Yoga & Meditation Retreat

Five days of yoga, meditation, nourishing food, meaningful connections & complete relaxation!

Foothills of the Himalayas

Join us for five peaceful nights in Siliguri, in the foothills of Darjeeling, where yoga extends far beyond the mat. Begin your mornings with yoga and meditation, enjoy nourishing sattvic meals, experience Ayurvedic massages, explore nature, read, create art, and spend time with a warm, supportive community.

This retreat is intentionally unhurried with no overly packed schedules or pressure to do more. We want you to experience the simple pleasure of not having to rush from one thing to the next! If this feels like something you’ve been needing, we’d love to welcome you.

Meet your host

Hi, I’m Sanjeevani. Welcome to our yoga retreat!

A bit about me – My yoga journey began with Iyengar yoga, where I developed a deep appreciation for alignment and mindful movement. Today, my teaching blends Hatha and Vinyasa yoga while staying rooted in those principles of precision and awareness.

For the past 7 years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching 600+ people across India, the UK, the US, Australia, Dubai, and Africa, helping them build a yoga practice that feels sustainable and enjoyable. Many of my students have continued practising with me for years, something I’m incredibly grateful for!

This retreat is especially meaningful to me because Siliguri is home and I wanted to create an experience that brings together yoga, nature, and the space to simply be, away from life’s noise! Need a break from the hustle bustle? Come join us!

September is a lovely time to experience Siliguri. While monsoon is still around, the weather is generally warm, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 30°C. You can expect a mix of sunshine, cloudy skies, and occasional rain showers during your stay. It can get a bit humid, but the main yoga hall, dining space and residental rooms are all air-conditioned.

We recommend packing a compact umbrella or lightweight rain jacket, along with comfortable footwear that offers good grip on wet surfaces.

Most of our yoga sessions will take place indoors, and the campus has plenty of covered spaces, so a passing shower will not really affect the retreat experience.

Clothing

  • Comfortable yoga wear (enough for daily sessions)
  • Light jacket / sweater / shawl / Socks for cool mornings and evenings
  • Casual clothes for free time.
  • Sandals / shoes / flip-flops (a separate pair for inside your room)

  • A small bag to carry around these following basics around the venue
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Umbrella (it rains in August)
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Debit/Credit card and some cash for personal expenses
  • A lock to keep your suitcase content protected.

  • Any prescription documents, if applicable
  • Yoga mat (Mats will be provided but if you’re like me and do not like to use items used by others, please feel free to bring your own)

Toiletries & Personal Care

  • Personal toiletries
  • Personal medications
  • Hairdryer if you need one
  • Insect repellent (optional)
  • Small first-aid essentials (optional)

Other

  • Notebook / Journals (for reflections)
  • Book or Kindle (if you want to spend time reading)

The retreat will be held at the Art of Living Siliguri Ashram, a peaceful space designed for rest, learning, and practice.

  • Smoking, alcohol, and recreational drugs are strictly prohibited.
  • All meals served at the ashram are pure vegetarian.

FAQS

Absolutely. The sessions are designed for all levels. I teach with alignment and breath in mind, which means every pose has modifications and every pace is respected. Many people come to retreats like this as their first real step into regular practice, and it can be a lovely way to begin.

Yes, just maybe not in the way you might expect. Rather than focusing on advanced poses, we’ll explore alignment, breath, and the smaller refinements that can completely change how a posture feels.

Many experienced practitioners leave with a fresh perspective on familiar poses, and the philosophy and wellness sessions add another meaningful layer to the experience.

Absolutely. In fact, many people do. If you’re sharing a room, we’ll always match you with someone of the same gender, unless you’re booking as a couple or family, in which case just let us know.

Some wonderful friendships begin at retreats like this, but if you also enjoy quiet time, there’s plenty of space for that too.

We’d love for you to experience the retreat as it’s been designed. There’s plenty of time to rest throughout the day, so you’ll never feel like you’re rushing from one session to the next.

While we encourage everyone to attend all the sessions, we also completely understand that everyone has different needs. If you’re feeling unwell or simply need some time to rest, just let us know in between sessions. You’re always welcome to take a break and rejoin when you’re ready!

We’re capping this retreat at 25. That’s it! Its small so we can all get to know each other (if you want to, no pressure, especially for my fellow introverts) and be comfortable!

There are two sessions daily: 60 to 90 minute Hatha-Vinyasa yoga with meditation and pranayama sessions in the morning & evening. The rest of the day has some group activities in the afternoons and evenings, with plenty of time to rest.

Each guest receives one treatment included in the retreat price. Abhyanga is a warm oil massage which is rhythmic, full body, and deeply relaxing. Its a traditional Ayurvedic treatment. You’ll be given time slots to choose from at the venue. [Ayurveda treatments are not given post sunset].

If you’d like to experience additional Ayurvedic therapies during your stay, the resident doctor can recommend treatments based on your needs. The consultation and further therapies are completely optional and can be booked separately (only one massage is included in the retreat fee)

The program is structured around twin and triple sharing. If you’d like to book both beds in a twin room for sole use, please message us directly and we’ll let you know if it’s possible.
